Day 61 - November 30, 2005
I crossed into North Carolina yesterday, just a couple miles north of McColl, South Carolina. This morning my base moved from Florence to Pinehurst, NC, courtesy of a plane ride from Donn McGinnis, who flies in the summer for Skagway Air. He flew down in his "1962 model airplane", a Cessna 172 and picked me up! We flew over lots of golf courses coming in, and then we got in his El Camino and hit the Eastwood Cafe, Belks, and Lowe's Foods. Staying with Donn and his wife Sara in Pinehurst and we're having a good time regaling in Skagway stories. Tomorrow they will drive me down to my drop-off point near Laurinburg, NC and support me over the next few days up Highway 15.

This Sunday I will take a break and drive to Washington, D.C. for a couple of shows organized by the incredible Joanna Nunan with the Coast Guard who used to live in Ketchikan. I'll have 15 minutes with the Alaska State Society Christmas Party next Monday night the 5th, meet with Sen. Lisa Murkowski on Tuesday morning, and then do a Robert Service show at Finn MacCool's on 8th Street that night at 6:30 pm on the 6th before heading back to North Carolina to resume the walk.
